Durbridge Stakes 2021 betting preview – Saturday, January 30

The Listed Durbridge Stakes is the feature event on a nine-race card at Morphettville on Saturday and has attracted a field of seven. Despite the small field, there’s plenty of class engaged, none more so than Behemoth, who resumes here in a preparation where the All Star Mile is the grand final. Not to be forgotten is the Linlithgow Stakes winner from the spring, Kemalpasa, who also resumes here in the Durbridge Stakes.

In this matchup you can’t go past the class of Behemoth He has bigger things on the horizon no doubt this campaign, but David Jolly will be hoping his star galloper can get the cash in the Durbridge Stakes. His previous first-up form – three wins and two placings from six starts – ties in nicely here, and on August 15 he got the better of Kemalpasa over the 1200m at Morphettville. Behemoth will most likely settle towards the rear of the small seven horse field but should prove too strong and classy in the finish.

From one classy five-year-old gelding to another, this time from the Richard & Chantelle Jolly stable in Kemalpasa. His first-up form is far from flash, although he has won when resuming in the past, but what keeps him close to Behemoth in the Durbridge Stakes is his wet form. With rain expected throughout Friday we should see a Soft-rated track come up for race day, and with four wins from seven starts on rain-affected going he looks to be a significant danger to Behemoth.

Phillip Stokes and Kayla Crowther strike at 26% when they pair up, but they will need a lot to go right if Symphonette is to get the job done in the Durbridge Stakes. However, she has returned in fine style this campaign, which includes a dominant win here on Boxing Day over 1200m. She will settle towards the back with Behemoth and if she can match the turn of foot the favourite possesses, then you just never know.
