Adelaide Cup betting preview
The featured event on the monster nine race card at Morphettville on Monday is the Group 2 Adelaide Cup over 3200m. With a field of 16 set to go around following the scratching of Double You Tee early in the week, it looks to be one of the better versions of the Adelaide Cup in recent years. The 2020 Adelaide Cup winner was King Of Leogrance as favourite at $2.20 for Danny O’Brien and Damian Lane.
This 2021 Adelaide Cup is set to jump at 4:15pm ACDT.
The speed in the Adelaide Cup looks to come from the rough Table of Wisdom from a wide barrier, and Good Idea from the rails. With the likes of Tralee Rose, Sin To Win and Long Arm expected to settle towards the rear of the field.
One of the most improved runners in the country this campaign is Tralee Rose and it would take a brave punter to back against the mare out of the Symon Wilde stable. Having won five from six starts this campaign, Tralee Rose looks bound to compete on the first Tuesday in November and a win in the Adelaide Cup will certainly help her chances. Her win in the Lord Reims Stakes was as arrogant as the come, when settling in the second half of the field and rounding up her rivals with ease and went down to the line untouched in the end and showed the racing world she is the one to beat on Monday. Expect Jason Holder to settle the mare one off the fence in the second half of the field and then sit back and enjoy the show as Tralee Rose stamps her claim as one of the best stayers in the country.
The clear danger looks to come from the Anthony Freedman-trained Starcaster and since Jamie Kah has hopped on board, the gelding has found plenty. Having won his last two starts at Moonee Valley in dominant on pace performances, he will look to take a sit just off the leaders heels and will be several lengths in front of Tralee Rose as the tempo starts to heat up. Winning form is good form, and Jamie Kah will be looking to make her return home a winning one.
If Mosh Music gets a genuine tempo, the $12 on offer looks to be juicy, whilst Sin To Win will need to make up 7 lengths on Tralee Rose.
This year’s Adelaide Cup looks to be Tralee Rose’s to lose, and her odds for this year’s Melbourne Cup will tighten if she manages to score convincingly.
