The Nivison Horse Betting Preview
Royal Randwick plays host to The Nivison over 1200m at Group 2 level for Mares. It is a wide open betting race, with Athiri the $5 favourite, ahead of Wandabaa and Sweet Deal. There is a decent amount of speed on paper, with Blazing Miss, Sweet Deal and Positive Peace all likely to be handy.

Athiri has won two on the trot and we see no reason as to why she cannot make it a hat-trick of wins in this. Rachel King is unbeaten when aboard the mare, and she stays aboard here which we like to see. From barrier eight, the pair will be able to tuck in behind the pace and get a cushy run in transit. She beat Prime Star by nearly 3L two starts back, and he is one of the market fancies in the Bondi Stakes, so if he can win that earlier on the card, our confidence will only be boosted. She can really make her presence felt in the Autumn we think.
Jen Rules has been right thereabouts in both runs this prep in this grade, finishing second to Haut Brion Her, and third to Subpoenaed which is strong form lines to follow. Her Brisbane winter was promising, and she looks to have put it together in the spring. From gate six, Sam Clipperton will get a nice run in the first half a dozen and be letting down well late. We trust that the Snowdens will have her peaking for this.
Seasons brings similar form to Jen Rules into this race, coming through the Sheraco and the Golden Pendant. She finished 0.3L off Jen Rules second up when luckless, before having a torrid run in the Golden Pendant last start, so we are happy to forgive that performance. She goes well fresh and has had four weeks between runs. She is a four time winner at 1200m and races well here, so at $10.00 she is value. Everest winning trainer, Les Bridge will leg up Regan Bayliss here which looks a promising combination. From the wide gate, we expect to see her handy and be in with a fighting chance.
