Brian Crowley Stakes Preview
The Brian Crowley Stakes has attracted a field of just seven quality three-year-olds. Run over 1200m at Randwick for $200,000, the race has been won by some quality sprinters over the past years including Better Than Ready, Counteratack and Spright. Destination and The Bopper share favouritism at the moment, with On The Lead the only other runner in single figures. There looks plenty of speed on paper, with The Bopper, Private Cheetah and Ocean Emperor all on-pace runners.

Destination brings superior form to this race after a 0.3L defeat to Wild Ruler who is headed towards the Coolmore Stud Stakes next weekend. He was a good winner at Kembla, before placing in his last three, which include seconds to Prime Star and the aforementioned Wild Ruler. He has had a month between runs and looks ready to fire fresh. Rachel King hops aboard and will get all the favours in the run from barrier 2. He should be a clear favourite in our opinion.
Ballistic Lover looks extreme overs in this race as he shoots for a hatrick of wins. His first up win was dominant at Wyong, winning by nearly four lengths, before going to town and beating the highly spruiked Malkovich, who won yesterday at Hawkesbury, franking the form. Barrier 6 will allow Brenton Avdulla to come over and settle midfield and let down with the filly’s strong finishing burst. She gets a 2kg weight relief on the boys, so we think she is a great winning chance.
Ocean Emperor is another who represents value in the race after a tough win at Wyong last time out. He sat outside the leader on that occasion and found plenty in the straight to win, beating Long Weekend and Skyray who has since won well. Barrier 3 will see Jason Collett utilise the soft draw to go forward and be in it for a long way.
