Yankee Rose to face veterinary examination

Champagne Stakes favourite Yankee Rose will have a veterinary test on Friday morning to to decide if she is fit enough to take her place in the Group One race.

Yankee Rose is odds-on to win the Champagne at Randwick on Saturday but the filly has been lame since her final piece of serious lead-up work on Wednesday.

Trainer David Vandkye said Yankee Rose was sore in near-fore heel.

But Vandyke expects Racing NSW vet Craig Suann will give Yankee Rose a clearance to run.

“She’s still not 100 per cent, but I’m thinking she’ll get the tick of approval from Dr Suann when he comes out to look at her,” Vandyke said on Thursday.
