We are racing on a Soft 5 for the nine-race event on Tuesday at Wodonga, where the rail is back in true position from 3m out on what looks set to be a glorious day for racing in the northeast of Victoria.
As usual for this time of year, there are plenty of debutants scattered throughout the early stages of the card. However, there are some promising types resuming in the latter races.
Tuesday racing tips for Wodonga
Race 6 – Rose Of Sebring @ $1.90 Sportsbet
This Dabernig & Hayes-trained filly resumes in a BM58 with not much depth in it. If she can show anything close to her form in her debut campaign, then the second win of her career is within reach. Coming off two city placings and a hugely impressive maiden win at Ballarat, she will look to get this campaign off to a good start. From barrier three, Daniel Stackhouse should be able to get this filly up on the pace and help dictate the speed. If she can score impressively here, the $101 on offer for Rose Of Sebring to win the Thousand Guineas may not be available for too much longer.
Race 1 – Baaqyah @ $1.50 Sportsbet
Going with Hayes & Dabernig again, but this time in the opener. Baaqyah went around as a $2.90 second elect at her first-up run on the Ballarat synthetic after some impressive jumpout form. She does have juvenile form behind the ever-impressive Tagaloa late last year; if she can bring that form to this, then she will prove way too good for this field. Unless there is something special in the debutants, this looks her best chance to break the maiden.
Race 8 – Richwaite Lady @ $20/$5 Sportsbet
This 6YO mare no doubt prefers a run over longer distances, but it’s hard to let her go around at this price without something on her. After racing consistently through the country circuit, she surprised many with her last-start win at The Valley at similarly long odds. Her preferred distance is 1600m, where she has won seven times, but she has scored over 1200m previously.
