Winx officially rated world’s best horse

Having established herself as Australia’s champion racehorse, Winx can now lay claim to being the world’s best.

The mare has been ranked alongside Dubai World Cup winner California Chrome on 126 in the latest World’s Best Racehorse Rankings released on Friday.

Winx received her high rating from a panel of international handicappers for her win in the Doncaster Mile earlier this month, her sixth Group One victory.

“It is a huge honour and I am part of a very proud team who makes it all worthwhile and of course possible,” her trainer Chris Waller said.

Winx is taking a break before being prepared for a defence of the Cox Plate in the spring but the world’s best sprinter, Chautauqua, will be out to cement his position when he runs in Hong Kong on May 1.

The Hawkes Racing-trained Chautauqua earned a rating of 121 when he defended his TJ Smith Stakes on April 2, making him fourth equal in the world standings.

Queenslander Buffering has run to an equal career-high 118 to win the Al Quoz Sprint in Dubai in March and will run against Chautauqua in the Chairman’s Sprint Prize at Sha Tin.
