Winter break looms for 2YO Sebring Dream

Bigger and better things await Sebring Dream after the filly shed her maiden tag with an easy win at Flemington.

That’s an opinion shared by jockey Michael Walker and long-time Lindsay Park Melbourne foreman Gary Fennessy after the two-year-old scored in the Pat Hyland Plate (1400m) on Saturday.

Sent out the $2.80 favourite, Sebring Dream scored by 1-1/4 lengths from Montoya’s Secret ($8) with Jaws Of Steel ($7.50) a long head away third.

Fennessy indicated the filly was likely to be spelled and set for a spring campaign by Lindsay Park trainers David Hayes and Tom Dabernig.

“I know it’s winter and the field probably wasn’t as strong as you reckon it would be but she’s still done the job and she’ll keep getting better,” Fennessy said.

Sebring Dream made her debut a fortnight ago when finishing second to I Am A Star over 1100m and Fennessy said the filly had trained on well.

He said the stable had always had a healthy opinion of the daughter of Sebring, adding she needed to get out to 1400m to a mile to show her best.

“We really like her,” he said.
