Windsor Park Stud adds to its impressive stallion roster

Group 1 Spring Champions Stakes winner Vanbrugh has been added to Windsor Park’s 2017 stallion roster

WINDSOR Park has announced two more quality stallions to its roster after announcing the addition of Turn Me Loose just last week.

The New Zealand-based stud announced stud fees for group one winner Vanbrugh and the well-related Rageese. Both made their careers in Australia where Vanbrugh took out the Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes as a three-year-old.

It also finished fourth in races such as the Group 1 Rosehill Guineas and Group 1 George Main Stakes. The winner of five from 21 race day starts, Vanbrugh brings in professional breeding lines and will surely be a success at the sales in the coming seasons.

Rageese didn’t quite mature into the top thoroughbred many thought it would be, but it won the Group 3 L’Oreal Paris Stakes and it finished second in the Group 1 VRC Sires’ Produce and Group 2 Pago Pago Stakes.

Windsor Park Stud’s Rodney Schick is happy with the new talent arriving at Cambridge, which has been a haven for stud operations in New Zealand.

“The important thing with Vanbrugh, Rageese and Turn Me Loose is they all possessed huge talent from day one and they’ve all competed successfully at the highest level in Australia,” Schick said.

“They are outstanding types with pedigrees to match and now, with the recent announcements around boosted prize-money, Windsor Park are excited to offer breeders three new high-class stallion prospects.”

Vanbrugh and Rageese continue to race in Australia and their stud fees will be on hold until their current campaigns are finished.

The Darren Weir-trained Rageese will run in the Group 1 Goodwood Handicap followed by the Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap and getting some black type in either race would see its stud fee skyrocket.

Vanbrugh is scheduled to run in the Group 1 Doomben Cup later this month for champion trainer Chris Waller.

Windsor Park has a strong stallion roster which is headed by Charm Spirit at a fee of $18,000. Turn Me Loose has opened at $15,000 with Caulfield Cup winner Mongolian Khan a value price at $10,000.

2017 Windsor Park stud fees:

Charm Spirit – $18,000
Turn Me Loose – $15,000
Shamexpress – $12,500
Mongolian Khan – $10,000
Rip Van Winkle – $10,000
Falkirk – $4000
