STAR jockey Joao Moreira is one of the main attractions for Saturday’s Australasian Oaks meet.

The Brazilian, fresh off another successful stint in Hong Kong, has rides in all eight races at Morphettville.

They include Sebring Dream in the Oaks and joint-favourite Shiedel in the Group 1 UBET Classic (Sangster Stakes).

Moreira rode no winners at Happy Valley last time out, but online bookmaker Sportsbet.com.au reckons that drought will be short-lived.

He is paying +180 to ride a single winner, +280 for a double and +500 for a treble, compared to the +400 quote to go empty handed.

Another poised for a big day in Adelaide is Darren Weir.

The Victorian trainer comes in off a very fruitful Warrnambool Cup carnival, where he fielded a record-breaking 14 winners over three days.

Among Weir’s best hopes on Saturday are Indian Thunder in the 1050m Queen Adelaide Stakes, Amelie’s Star in the 1600m Queen of the South Stakes and Ken’s Dream in the 1200m Euclase Stakes.

“The Magic Man and D.K. Weir are headline acts and they have multiple chances to get among the winners,” said Sportsbet’s Will Byrne.

“Joao has eight rides and six of his mounts are in the top two in betting, so $2.80 looks generous.”
