Waller wins first Sydney race of season
Chris Waller has picked up where he left off by training the first winner of the new Sydney racing season.
With Brenton Avdulla aboard, Pound Sterling won the first race at Warwick Farm on Wednesday, ploughing through the wet track to beat the Peter and Paul Snowden-trained Ebenos.
Waller set a Sydney training record at Rosehill on Saturday, ending 2015/16 with 169 winners while Avdulla was last season’s leading rider in NSW.
