Waller runners dominate Wyong Cup market

Chris Waller-trained horses are dominating the Listed Wyong Gold Cup market, headlined by veteran stayer Junoob.

Nine-year-old Junoob is the $4.60 top pick to win his first race since last year’s Listed Ballarat Cup in the $160,000 provincial feature over 2100m on Friday.

Loophole is $5 to get his first stakes win at his 54th start, while the champion trainer also has the market’s third pick Sacred Master at $6.

Sacred Master is a winner over 2100m and was third in the Group One Auckland Cup (3200m) in March before being transferred to Waller’s stable.

Junoob, to be ridden by Blake Shinn, will carry 61kg in the Cup and comes into the race after finishing third in the Listed Rowley Mile at Hawkesbury on August 18.

French import Orbec, who finished fourth in last year’s Group One Metropolitan Handicap, is at $7.

The John Thompson-trained horse finished sixth in the Premier’s Cup Prelude on August 13, his first start since being gelded.

The only Wyong-trained horse in the Cup is Get On The Grange from Allan Kehoe’s stable, rated a $15 hope.

The Wyong track was rated good on Thursday, but up to 30mm is predicted to fall overnight and on Friday.

Waller’s sole runner in the Listed Mona Lisa Stakes (1350m) Elle Lou is the $2.30 top pick with the Peter and Paul Snowden-trained Typhoon Jolie on the second line of betting at $5.
