Walker booked for five rides at Flemington

Michael Walker will make his return from his latest injury setback with five rides at Flemington.

Walker hasn’t ridden in a race for more than a month as he recovered from a head injury suffered in an accident at his home.

The multiple Group One-winning jockey had only been back riding for a few weeks after spending four months on the sidelines recuperating from hip surgery.

He made his return to trackwork in jump-outs last Friday and among his five rides at Saturday’s Flemington meeting are three for the training partnership of David Hayes and Tom Dabernig.

Walker has formed a successful combination in recent seasons with Hayes and Dabernig. Their wins include the 2014 Group One Australian Cup with Spillway and last year’s Caulfield Stakes with Criterion.

The jockey starts the Flemington meeting with the ride on the Hayes and Dabernig-trained debutante Sebring Dream in the Phar Lap Club Plate (1100m) for two-year-old fillies and is also booked to ride import Cloudscape and Auld Burns.

Cloudscape makes his Australian debut in the Chairman’s Club Handicap (1400m).

Ken Keys has booked Walker for stayer Like A Carousel in the 2800m race and the jockey will also partner the Nigel Blackiston-trained mare Amarela in the Mother’s Day Handicap (2000m).
