Friday racing tips for Wagga Wagga

An eight-race card is set down for judgement on Friday afternoon at Wagga Wagga, where the track has come a Soft 7 after some consistent rain during the week. With the rail in the true position on rain-affected going, it may pay dividends to be up on speed throughout the card. The first at Wagga is set to jump at 1:35pm AEDT.

Best BetRace 4 – Evanora (#3) $2 with Sportsbet

Luke Pepper and Ellen Hennessy team up with a 3YO filly who looks primed to break her maiden on Friday. She was beaten on the line last start a fortnight ago when looking the winner with 100m to go. She maps to get the run of the race from barrier two, sitting just off the leaders’ heels. If she can get a touch of luck at the top of the home straight, she should be just too good for this maiden. Evanora seems to have the best turn of foot in the race and could put this field away within a couple of strides.

Next BestRace 1 – Dambulla (#1) $2.50 with Sportsbet

The Maher & Eustace team’s 5YO gelding drops back from metropolitan racing to try and take out the Mountaineer Cup in the opening event at Wagga on Friday. He has been far from disgraced in his recent city-class runs and should appreciate the drop back to country racing. He maps to get across the field easily from barrier six and take up the running, and he should get an easy time of it up front with not too much speed engaged.

Best ValueRace 7 – Sky Call (#2) $6 with Sportsbet

Mitchell Beer’s 5YO mare was well held last start when finishing midfield in the Benalla Cup, chasing only steadily on a track that just wasn’t suited to backmarkers throughout the day. If by this point in the card it is noticeable that you can win from anywhere, then she rates highly to take out the featured Stan Sadleir Stakes. She maps to settle midfield from barrier seven and will be looking to get back to the form that saw her race in the Country Championship earlier in the year.
