Wagga quaddie tips, form & specials for Thursday, August 31

quaddie of the week

THE picturesque scenery of rural NSW is the spot for our Thursday quaddie this week as Wagga hosts an eight-race card.

We travel to the Riverina in confidence given we have been on track there multiple times in the new season already, and we are hoping to impart some of that on-course knowledge to our quaddie investors this week.

The team at HorseBetting.com.au has been on fire tipping-wise over the course of August, and we are hoping to end the month on the right note.

Race five on the card is the Ferndale Distributors benchmark 65 over 1600m, which kicks off the quaddie at 3.20 pm.

Race 5 – Ferndale Distributors BM65 (1432m)

Hat-trick seeking Hangin’ With Willy is the class horse of this field on Thursday. The Bon Hoffa six-year-old was a strong winner at Wagga back on August 13. The only issue is the step up to the 1600m mark, where it has not placed in four previous attempts, but we cannot deny the form lines here.

Cherokee Warrior is another last-start Wagga winner. A win on Thursday would make it four wins from as many attempts at the Wagga track, so it would be remiss of us to leave out the course specialist.

Zarlu has been supremely consistent over this preparation without breaking through for the elusive win. After a lacklustre second-last finish in June, the horse has finished outside the placings just once in four subsequent runs. Another big tick is the course and distance record, which is three wins from four attempts.

Race 6 – Vale Richard Freyer Plate C1 (1600m)

Delle Donne might have taken awhile to shake the maiden tag, but the horse has seemed to excel since the 15th-race breakthrough. The five-year-old put in a great performance at Leeton last week and will look to continue what has been the best stretch of its career.

Gone Fishing was a terrific winner at Forbes in the opening week of August and we are expecting another solid performance here. The horse is unlikely to go around as at a double-figure price again, however, after a terrific showing last start when it had every excuse to lose.

Five-year-old gelding Bordeaux Bandit is looking to back up a strong win last start at Goulburn. The horse steps straight out of maiden company and gets an additional 4.5kg following the win but it has placed with that much weight in the past and so should have no troubles lugging it around in this company.

Race 7 – Thomas Blamey Handicap C3 (1200m)

Flying Cyril is a dual-acceptor, but if the four-year-old gelding takes part in this race it will be hard to hold out. Last time out at Leeton the horse was desperately unlucky to lose after Delivered sprouted wings to topple it. The horse has plenty of class and will be tough to beat.

Four-year-old mare Yawkey Way was a brilliant last start winner at Leeton and the local produce will be fighting out the finish here in Wagga. The horse also has a great record at the distance, placing in a third of the races it attempts at the 1200m trip.

Lightly raced seven-year-old Crisalli comes into Thursday after narrowly going down at Narrandera a fortnight ago. Although the horse has just one win to its name from 13 attempts it is never too far from the mark and will be right in the running here given it is only carrying 54kg and is jumping from a favourable gate.

Arena Queen failed miserably last start at Sandown but we are forgiving the run given it endured horrendous conditions. Prior to that the horse had been running extremely well, winning two of its last three starts – all of which came at Wagga. The horse also drops back to a distance where it has won once and placed another across four attempts.

Race 8 – Adams Kenneally White & Co C1 (1000m)

Kruanui has been in glittering form recently, and its last three runs at Wagga have yielded one win and two second placings. The five-year-old’s form at the track cannot be denied and we think it will be fighting out the finish.

Patrika Belle won on debut as an odds-on favourite at Leeton. The horse was the consummate professional and did exactly what it needed to win. The Reward For Effort mare will need to improve on that run to score here but there is no reason to think it will not relish the class step-up.

Four-year-old mare Anna’s Joy will be looking to continue its terrific form in its third-ever race start on Thursday. The horse has not finished outside the quinella placings across two runs at Kembla Grange and bringing that south of Sydney form down to rural NSW will see it catching the judge’s eye come the post.
