Vic country trainer warned off for a year

Victorian country trainer Ian Fletcher has been warned off for 12 months after being found guilty of animal welfare offences.

The Swan Hill-based Fletcher fronted the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board on Wednesday and pleaded guilty to charges of failing to provide proper and sufficient nutrition to seven horses in his care before April 6 this year.

During the period of his warning-off, Fletcher may apply to Racing Victoria for an exemption to the restrictions imposed.

With the consent of Fletcher, RV is to have access to his property until September 13 for the purpose of monitoring any horses and to assist with the re-homing of any horses if needed.

Meanwhile Geelong trainer Andrew Campbell will face the RAD Board after being charged following the detection of phenylbutazone and oxyphenbutazone in a post-race urine sample after the win of Quick Kiss at Terang on March 24.

He was further charged with failing to record the treatment of horses in his care for the period March 1 to March 24.
