Upset win for Yaba Dabl Dooya in Caloundra

Beaudesert trainer Kenneth Deacon continued his winning run with offspring of the broodmare Little Dabl Dooya in an upset win at Caloundra on Saturday.

Little Dabl Dooya’s son, Yaba Dal Dooya ($8), beat the favourite Privalka ($1.45) by a short head in the Savills Handicap (1200m).

Deacon said Little Dabl Dooya had been a great broodmare for his stable over the years.

“We have had six foals out of the mare but we retired her recently when she had a bad internal bleed. Her last foal was by the sire Holy Roman Emperor and we have high hopes for it,” he said.

“Yaba Dabl Dooya has been the best performed of her off spring and that was ninth win. If you look at his form it is behind some very smart horses.”

Michael Cahill stole a winning march on Yaba Dabl Dooya when he was able to kick clear at the 250m mark when Privlaka was held up for a run.

“He fought on well when Privlaka made his late charge but the line came up in time,” Cahill said.

Boris Thornton on Privlaka was held up behind several horses but got clear in the final 200m to make a late charge.
