Under The Lovre heads Bel Esprit weights
Multiple Group One placegetter Under The Louvre heads the weights for an easier stakes race at Caulfield.
Placed in three Group One races during 2015, Under The Louvre is down to have his first run back from a spell in the Listed Bel Esprit Stakes (1100m) on Saturday.
Under The Louvre finished second in the Oakleigh Plate in February last year before finishing third in the Goodwood in May and the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes at Caulfield in September.
The Robert Smerdon-trained gelding hasn’t raced since since finishing fourth at Sandown in November.
Under The Louvre has had three trials to prepare for his return, the latest over 990m at Cranbourne on April 11, when third behind Rib Eye.
The six-year-old has 60kg for Saturday’s race, 1kg more than the Peter and Paul Snowden-trained Sydneysider That’s A Good Idea who hasn’t raced since finishing out of the money at Randwick in December.
A total of 29 horses have been nominated for Saturday’s Listed sprint.
