Under The Louvre takes out Stradbroke Hcp

Under The Lourve has taken out the Group One Stradbroke Handicap by a nose from Black Heart Bart with the pair overtaking the field out wide in the final stages.

Dwayne Dunn guided the Robert Smerdon-trained five-year-old home at Eagle Farm with a clever ride, just edging out Brad Rawiller’s effort on Black Heart Bart.

Rosie Myers piloted The Virginian home third – with the three place-getters being the widest run horses in Queensland most prestigious race.

Dunn said he knew he had to avoid the inside to get Under The Lourve a good run home on the new-look Eagle Farm track.

“It’s a brand new track and it’s holding together well, but it was never always going to hold that good down near the rails,” said Dunn

“Six months time this track will be perfect.”
