Tycoon Tara takes out Toy Show in style

FORMER Victorian runner Tycoon Tara made it back-to-back wins for Peter and Paul Snowden in the Toy Show Quality at Randwick on Saturday.

The six-year-old mare produced the upset win in the Group 2 Missile Stakes last time out and proved too good for them again in the Group 3 Toy Show at odds of $5.50.

Most of the money came for Le Romain which was fresh up for Kris Lees, but Tycoon Tara had plenty in hand and the win is something co-trainer Paul Snowden was expecting.

“It’s no shock to us,” Snowden said.

“I said to the press conference during the week that it was no fluke seeing her win the other day.

“Kerrin (McEvoy) rode a smart race and she looked the winner a long way from home. She looks a million bucks and race accordingly. I said to one of the owners before the race when they look that good they don’t usually run poorly.”

Snowden could now take the mare to Melbourne where it has already won multiple group races.

“We had to change tack after the Missile and I dare say we’ll have to change again after today,” he said.

“I’m sure we’ll find a couple of nice races for her down in Melbourne and it’s nice to know she handles that way of going.”

Le Romain battled on well for second after looking a possible winner in the straight. The four-year-old will strengthen up out of that race and head towards bigger spring targets.
