Tosen Stardom out of Queen Elizabeth

Japanese horse Tosen Stardom will not run in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes with Racing NSW stewards determining the horse has had a bleeding attack which incurs an automatic three-month ban in Australia.

Stewards opened an inquiry after a vet reported Tosen Stardom had blood in both nostrils after he worked at Canterbury on Tuesday.

They rejected a submission from connections there could have been an external cause and under the rules of Australian racing, Tosen Stardom is barred from racing for three months.

Tosen Stardom, runner-up to Contributer in the 2015 Ranvet Stakes and fifth in the Queen Elizabeth won by Criterion, was the only overseas horse to make the trip to Sydney this year.
