Top racing tips for Randwick and Caulfield, Saturday April 15

Weekend tips

THE Sydney autumn carnival is winding down, but there’s still two cracking races this Saturday with the Group 1 All Aged Stakes and Group 1 Champagne Stakes.

We have sorted through the form and found five of the best horse racing tips for both Randwick and Caulfield which should all give punters some great Easter weekend value.

Punters betting with Sportsbet.com.au will get even better value to start the day at Randwick. If your runner finishes second or third in the first four races, Sportsbet will give up to $50 in bonus bets.

New Tipperary – Randwick Race 5

The Joe Pride-trained New Tipperary has come up empty in three runs at Randwick so far, but we believe it’s knocking on the door of turning that track form around.

The underrated four-year-old has won six of its 12 career starts with two of them coming on rain-affected ground. That’s a significant statistic for this Saturday as the rain is apparent and some horses simply don’t handle the autumn conditions.

Its last start seventh in the Group 1 Doncaster Mile is a great form guide and the wide draw won’t be an issue as Brenton Avdulla will likely settle back in the field and make a run late.

Carrying 53kg will be a bonus and although the $5 for the win is a solid price, we’re locking in the $2 to place at CrownBet as the best betting option in the Japan Racing Association Plate at 2.25pm.

Hans Holbein – Caulfield Race 6

Hans Holbein was an impressive winner at Bendigo last start and there’s plenty of improvement left this campaign.

The Robert Hickmott-trained stayer is in the right stable to compete at this level and its 3.5-length win last start came very easily. It carried 61kg on that occasion which made the performance even more impressive and it drops significantly down in weight here.

The imported son of Montjeu drops to 55kg and faces a harder field, but only Boom Time and The Dominator have won in their last five starts, so it doesn’t have much to run against.

Punters know they’re getting a fit runner from this stable and it looks a great bet having won twice already at this distance.

It opened at $2.10 and has dropped to $1.90 at Sportsbet.com.au. That’s a price worth taking and we’re picking many punters will include it in their horse racing multi bets.

Invader/Whispered Secret – Randwick Race 6

We’re tipping the quinella of Invader and Whispered Secret because we couldn’t split the two.

Invader looks an up-and-coming talent after winning the Group 1 Sires’ Produce Stakes and there has been plenty of support for the three-year-old. It is currently the dominating favourite at $1.90 and punters are expecting the Snowden-trained colt to dominate.

Whispered Secret shouldn’t be too far off, especially after winning in fine style last Saturday. The James Cummings-trained filly travelled wide throughout the run last start in the Fernhill Stakes, but it put them away with ease.

It’s a natural stayer in the making and depending on how the race is run, it could beat the odds-on favourite.

We’re not prepared to go against either runner, so we are confidently tipping the two talented three-year-olds to run the quinella which should pay around $3.50 with Ladbrokes.com.au.

Hellova Street – Caulfield Race 8

Scott Brunton lines up Hellova Street which was an outstanding winner at Flemington last time out and it won’t find this any harder.

The Tasmanian-based six-year-old scored by 1.5 lengths in the Super Saturday Stakes which followed up back-to-back wins at Hobart and Launceston.

The four-time winner at this distance has plenty of ability as it showed when running second behind Admiral and Burning Front earlier this season and punters should confidently follow it again.

It’s currently $3 at Bet365.com which is worth taking as it should get a good run from barrier four.

French Emotion – Caulfield Race 10

The Chris Waller-trained French Emotion hasn’t won for awhile now which is frustrating punters, but it doesn’t get a better chance to win than this.

The five-year-old ran second in the Sunline Stakes last start and the form behind I Am A Star has stood up this campaign. Its form prior included a placing in the Myer Classic and although it didn’t fire in the Coolmore Stakes, it did box on well enough.

Drawing in barrier 10 doesn’t make it easy, but Craig Newitt should be able to find a good position and there is only one last start winner in this field.

CrownBet is offering $3.60 for French Emotion which is a good each way price.
