Toowoomba form & tips for Saturday, January 6
SATURDAY night racing is back this weekend as Toowoomba hosts a six race card.
This meet is short and sweet, but that doesn’t mean there’s a shortage of quality horses running around.
We have gone through the sextet of races and provided comprehensive tips for each one.

Race 1 – Class 1 Handicap (1300m)
Royal Tone has been racing around this grade recently and has yet to miss a placing in four-straight events. Last time out the horse only missed out by less than a length so we think it will be around the mark once again.
Race 1 tip: Royal Tone to win at Sportsbet
Race 2 – Maiden (1200m)
Card Tricks resumes after a five month break and we think it will turn as a much improved galloper. Before being turned out the horse finished second behind Kuttamurra Al, which has since gone on to claim a win at Class 2 level.
Card Tricks looks well placed to breakthrough.
Race 2 tip: Card Tricks to win at Neds
Race 3 – Benchmark 60 (1850m)
Occhilupo should be winning this. Last time out the horse won at Class 1 level with ease and the Ben Currie runner looks poised to again salute at Toowoomba.

Race 4 – Maiden (1000m)
Angel Dane placed third first-up on the Gold Coast and second-up into the preparation the horse should be winning. In a race with not a lot of form to read into, Angel Dane presents as the best winning hope.

Race 5 – Benchmark 60 (870m)
Squeemi is seeking a hat-trick and should salute again. The horse has been dominant over the sprint journey recently and while it gets a huge jump in weight, we think it can deliver again over the shorter distance.
Race 5 tip: Squeemi to win at William Hill
Race 6 – Benchmark 75 (1300m)
Real Mystique was ordinary upon resumption, but given it has never placed from four first-up attempts that came as no surprise. The horse will strip fitter from that and we think it can add another win to its quality second up record.
