Timing’s perfect for local mare in Saturday’s Railway Stakes
LOCAL mare Perfect Reflection is the $5.50 favourite at Sportsbet.com.au to take out Saturday’s Group 1 Railway Stakes in what could potentially be the best field the race has ever seen.
There are currently five horses under double figures for the 1600 metre race at Ascot, including speedster He’s Our Rokkii ($11) and Group winners Black Heart Bart ($17) and First Seal ($17).
Chris Waller-trained Mackintosh is the next best in the market at $6, while the horse that Perfect Reflection ran down last weekend to score at Ascot – Disposition – is on the third line of betting at $7.
Last start winner, Scales Of Justice, is at $13 alongside consistent performer, He Or She.
The Grant and Alana Williams-trained mare is hitting peak form at the right time according to owner Bob Peters.
“It’s good to see Perfect Reflection regain form she showed here 12 months ago,” Peters said.
“We had worries after she ran last in the Australian Guineas at Melbourne’s autumn carnival.
“Veterinarians couldn’t detect problems when examining Perfect Reflection. Her Guineas failure remains a mystery.
“The main thing is that, after a third and a win at her first two starts this time in, she’s on target again for carnival races.
Sportsbet.com.au representative Ben Bulmer said the Railway Stakes is set to be one of the tightest markets in the race’s history.
“The Railway has attracted some quality horseflesh, but Perfect Reflection is the one punters want. Ascot can prove a tough track for the eastern state horses, so with four of her six wins on the track, Perfect Reflection looks nicely placed,’’ he said.
