Time Thief progeny a big hit with Lockwood

Trainer Barry Lockwood continued his run of luck with the offspring of sire Time Thief when Watch The Cat won the Membership Plate at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

Backed from $21 into $10, Watch The Cat scored by a long neck to Staying Black ($14) with a short head to Dreaming of Biscay ($12) in third.

Lockwood has won more than 20 races with the offspring of Time Thief including Hidden Pearl, Tumbler, Show Us Ya Diamonds and Adoradancer.

“Unfortunately, he has relocated to stand at stud in South Africa so I will have to go over there to get any more,” Lockwood.

Most of Time Thief’s offspring are sprinters but Watch The Cat has the making of a good stayer.

Watch The Cat was formerly trained by Scott Singleton in NSW and was having his first run for Lockwood.

“He looks like a horse to get over some ground. I was a bit surprised today that he had got so close to the pace early. I expected him to come from back in the field.

“But he had trialled well and I expected him to race well. There might be a race in the winter over some ground for him.”

The meeting was run under strict guidelines with no member of the public allowed and extra hygiene was enforced.
