Tiffani Brooker will not appeal suspension

Apprentice Tiffiani Brooker will not appeal a seven-day suspension for excessive use of the whip on Gunsynd Classic winner Dreams Aplenty as connections of the runner-up consider legal action to have the result reversed.

Dreams Aplenty beat Violate, ridden by Larry Cassidy, by a nose in Saturday’s Group Three race.

Stewards outed Brooker for using the whip 17 times before the 100m including in consecutive strides, and also for using the stick a further 10 times inside the 100m.

Brooker pleaded guilty and was suspended from next Saturday night until May 13 which means she will miss the Doomben 10,000 day.

She was also fined $2000.

Violate’s trainer Brent Stanley told Melbourne Radio RSN927 he had been contacted by the colt’s owners on Sunday and asked to seek legal advice.

“I had inquiries from the owners and was asked to get legal advice which I’ve done and they are pursuing for the race to be overturned,” Stanley said.

Brooker told stewards at Monday’s Ipswich meeting she would not be challenging the suspension.
