The Shorts 2020 betting tips, odds & form
The 2020 running of The Shorts is bound to have plenty of interested onlookers, especially considering The Everest is only four weeks away and plenty of the gallopers engaged in this race could push for a spot in one of the richest races on the planet. All but two of the runners are coming into The Shorts first up and will look to hit the ground running. The class in the race comes at the top of the market, with Bivouac (#1) a $4 favourite, Classique Legend (#3) at $5, and Catalyst (#2) and Standout (#7) on the third line of betting.

Eduardo @ $7.50
We are happy to play outside of the favourite considering his first-up record and the wide barrier. Eduardo has been superb since making the move to Sydney this campaign, beating some handy types in Flit, Imaging and Roheryn along the way. He’s always been a galloper to take up the running, and he has one of the best front-running jockeys on board in Nash Rawiller. If he can give the kick he gave last time out, then he may prove too hard to beat. He has race fitness on his side, and his recent form suggests this step up in grade should not be a worry.
Classique Legend @ $5
Les Bridge’s 5YO gelding returned in fine form when bolting in a trial at Newcastle three weeks ago and looks to have come back in good order. He is yet to finish outside of the top two first up, while he resumed his Everest campaign last year in this exact race. He was beaten half a length by Pierata after a similar trial to this year. There is no reason why he shouldn’t be fighting out the finish in this.
Greyworm @ $15/$4.20
The Hawkes team saddle up a 6YO gelding who looks to be over the odds in the market. Greyworm is almost bomb-proof first up and won at Rosehill when resuming last campaign. He is yet to run outside of the top three at Rosehill and looks to map right on the heels of the leaders. He trialled well three weeks back when half a length behind Kolding and warrants an each-way play in The Shorts.
