The big bets are in: punters swarm to back Godolphin runners

We highlighted three of the Godolphin runners that had been well-supported throughout the week, but yet another John O’Shea-trained runner has been backed hard this Saturday.

There has been a $4000 bet on Flow in the opening race at Randwick. The two-year-old has finished second in both starts to date and one punter is expected that consistent form to translate into a win in the RB Electrical & Communications 2YO Plate at 11.20am.

The son of Street Cry can get Godolphin off to a good start at $3.20 with Sportsbet and highly-touted filly Ghisoni will look to continue the roll in the Glenlogan Park Stakes.

Sportsbet.com.au have also taken a $5200 bet on Ghisoni at the short price of $1.85. The three-year-old filly could have raced in the Group 1 Doomben 10,000 and would have started as the second favourite, but connections decided for the easier option and punters have swarmed to it.

There have been numerous big bets placed with other bookmakers on Ghisoni and we’re expecting the $1.85 to shorten further.

One of the biggest bets of the day has come on talented import Raw Impulse. The Darren Weir-trained horse is unbeaten in three Australian starts and bookmakers only offered up a short price when the market was released.

$1.50 was the best price on offer which was a touch short, but some punters didn’t seem to think so. Crownbet.com.au took a $7000 bet at $1.50 and another bookmaker in Australia took a $12,000 bet. Those are huge risks, but it does loom as a potential staying superstar.

The biggest race of the day is the Group 1 Doomben 10,000 and there has been some good action in the marketplace. Sportsbet has taken a $5000 bet on our top pick Fell Swoop at $5 which is a good price for a quality thoroughbred.

Luxbet.com.au also took a $2000 bet at $5.50 and there hasn’t been much action on the current favourite Azkadellia. The words from trainer Ciaron Maher that the group 1-winning mare is being targeted towards the Stradbroke has given caution to punters and the only action on it was a $3000 bet at Crownbet.
