TAUPO won’t be the most known track to Australian punters, but it always plays fair and most trainers love taking their runners there.

We have free racing tips, form and odds for the eight-race card which includes the Taupo Cup.

The weather will be fine and punters will be targetting this meeting to find some great value.

Plenty has been expected of Firefly in three runs to date, but a fourth placing last time out has been its best result.

It should continue to improve from the in-form Stephen Marsh stable and the inside draw is going to suit nicely.

Race 2 – Maiden Plate (1400m)

Chill was well-backed on debut at Tauranga and there was plenty to like about its third placing.

The Danica Guy-trained runner gets in well on the weights here at 55kg and that should make it very tough to beat around this tight-turning track.

Race 3 – Maiden Plate (1000m)

I Am Queen is on debut for Stephen Marsh and it looked to have good ability when running second in a barrier trial last month.

Drawing the inside can be vital around Taupo and this distance is going to suit perfectly.

Race 4 – Maiden Plate (1200m)

Jasd hasn’t been to the trials which can make it tough for punters to assess, but Tony Pike knows how to line up juveniles.

The three-year-old by Sepoy has the breeding to suggest it could win here and drawing barrier three should be ideal.

Race 4 tip: Jasd to win at Neds.com.au

Race 5 – BM75 Handicap (1200m)

Akoya has turned its form around with a last start win and it’s a confidence type.

The Marsh-trained four-year-old by Bullbars looked the goods when winning at Hastings last start and this isn’t much harder.

Race 6 – BM65 Handicap (1200m)

Merlini won narrowly at Pukekohe last time out, but winning form is good form in this race.

The son of I Am Invincible didn’t fire as the favourite on debut, but it remedied the situation last start and this looks ideal.

Race 7 – Taupo Cup (1950m)

Stephenstihls scored nicely three starts back before running second last start.

The Mike Breslin-trained four-year-old finished second behind Beefeater last start and having Sam Collett in the saddle is a big help.

Race 7 tip: Stephenstihls to win at Neds.com.au

Race 8 – BM65 Handicap (1800m)

Woodloveto finished a nose behind the winner on debut before scoring a narrow win last start.

The Sam Logan-trained gelding has had both starts at Taupo, which is great experience and it should go close to winning again.

Race 8 tip: Woodloveto to win at Sportsbet.com.au
