Tatt’s Tiara Day at Eagle Farm with full card form and free tips

Tatt's Tiara Day

THE running of the Group 1 Tattersall’s Tiara signals the end of the Brisbane winter carnival and Eagle Farm hosts a cracking 10-race card on Saturday.

On the stellar card is the $500,000 feature where trainer Ciaron Maher is shooting for consecutive Tatt’s Tiara wins. The Spear Chief, Tattersall’s Cup, W.J. Healy Stakes, Daybreak Lover and the 2YO Wintergarden Stakes are also on the card and punters have climbed into the early betting markets.

Crownbet.com.au will give punters a $50 bonus bet if your runner finishes second in the last four races at Eagle Farm.

Race 1 – Singapore Airlines 2YO Plate (1200m)

Snow Fields has opened up as the favourite despite having not won or placed in four starts. The Chris Munce-trained filly ran on late against some quality horses last start, but it ran as a $101 chance and the $4.60 is a much shorter price for punters to take. Betting indicates it’s a chance, but we’d want better odds.

Rare Occurrence was an upset winner on debut before taking on the Magic Millions 2YO Classic where it finished 11th. It hasn’t been far away in three runs since and although it has drawn wide in barrier 14, it should prove its worth at $6.

Reward For Riches is unbeaten in two starts for Chris Munce and winning form must be respected. The daughter of Captain Sonador won by a length on debut at Ipswich before resuming for a narrow win at Sunshine Coast. This isn’t an easy field, but the $6.50 should be considered.

Race 1 tip: Rare Occurrence to win ($6) at Crownbet.com.au

Race 2 – Carlton Draught C6 Plate (1400m)

Punta Norte is a six-win gelding which is coming off a strong last-start win over Sony Legend. The four-year-old is trained by Robert Heathcote and after multiple attempts over the staying distances, they realised it’s a much better sprinting prospect. Looks a chance at double-figure odds of $11.

I Am The Sculptor was a tragedy beaten last start at Doomben when it got too far back and flew home to miss narrowly. The four-year-old has loads of ability at the lower levels, but it gets in here with only 54.5kg and that’s a major factor. It could make the step up to Saturday grade and the $6 is a value price.

Flamboyer has been respected in the market. The five-year-old by Clang went well in a tough race last start behind Beckham and although it’s a relatively inconsistent runner, it could add some value to multiples. Win wouldn’t surprise here.

Race 2 tip: I Am The Sculptor to win ($6) at Sportsbet.com.au

Race 3 – FKG Group Spear Chief Handicap (1500m)

Hopfgarten showed its rivals a clean pair of heels when winning the Wayne Wilson at Eagle Farm last start. The Robert Heathcote-trained gelding went forward and kicked away in the straight to record a 2.5-length win over Pajaro. It faces a much smaller field here which will condense the runners, but it still looks a top chance at $2.50 after opening at $2.40.

Chris Waller travels north with Amovatio which finished off well behind Hopfgarten last start. The five-year-old has plenty of class and its win in the Hawkesbury Cup earlier this season should be a good form guide for this. Hugh Bowman takes the ride which is a positive and punters think it can run a race at $3.80.

Beckham is a former New Zealand runner which ran a top second placing in the Eye Liner Stakes last week at Ipswich. The Liam Birchley-trained horse was a winner at Doomben prior and it’s bred to be winning at this level. It opened at $6.50 and has drifted to $7.50, but it looks a winning chance.

Race 3 tip: Hopfgarten to win ($2.40) at Sportsbet.com.au

Race 4 – A.M Giles Chartered Accountants Handicap (1830m)

Pajaro is a quality gelding for Peter and Paul Snowden which has won four times from 21 starts. It has also placed on 10 occasions including its last two in Queensland. Prior to its run for second in the Lord Mayors Cup at Doomben, it won the Scone Cup when beating Amovatio and that form might be franked in Race 3. Drawn awkwardly, but it looks tough to beat at $2.90.

Telepathic has been well-backed at $2.50. The Chris Waller-trained mare has been out of form this campaign and punters are hoping it can return back to its best. The five-year-old by Mossman was nowhere to be found in the Dane Ripper last start, but this is easier and it is well weighted at 54.5kg. Take on trust.

Shotover River is still seeking to find its best this preparation after two poor efforts. It might have needed both runs back, however, and it is twice a winner at this distance. It is helped by the light weight and it could be worth a shot at $19.

Race 4 tip: Pajaro to win ($2.90) at WilliamHill.com.au

Race 5 – Winning Edge Presentations 3YO Handicap (1200m)

Wicked Intent was backed into favouritism at Ipswich last Saturday, but was found wanting after a tough run. The Chris Munce-trained colt was three wide throughout and faded for ninth. It has drawn well here so it should enjoy a nice trip and Kiwi apprentice Josh Oliver takes 3kg off its back. Chance here and punters are getting a good price at $9.50.

Karaka Million winner Hardline has had a troubled career, but it resuming nicely with third placing at Doomben. The Liam Birchley-trained gelding will enjoy the rise in distance and Luke Dittman’s claim brings its weight back to 57kg. He will need to ride it well from barrier 12, but it should prove tough to beat and $3.80 is a decent win price.

Madotti is more than capable and it looked good last time out when fifth behind Mahuta in the Magic Millions Guineas. It doesn’t run well fresh up, nor at this distance, but it has plenty of class and Jim Byrne rides at a nice weight of 55.5kg. Well-respected in the betting at $6.50.

Race 5 tip: Hardline to win ($3.80) at Crownbet.com.au

Race 6 – Carlton Mid Tattersall’s Cup (2200m)

Tucanchoo opened up as the $2.80 favourite, but bookmakers have been forced to let it drift. The Hawkes-trained runner has rattled off three consecutive wins and it’s now shooting for three consecutive wins in three different states. It now sits at $3.30 in the market which is concerning as money comes for Benzini, but respect its chances.

Eagle Farm Cup winner Benzini was a stylish winner last start for Adrian and Harry Bull from New Zealand. The country-trained gelding was too good for a similar field last start and it has been well-supported to make it two on end. It opened at $4.20 and it has since dropped to $3.80. It could start the favourite and that wouldn’t look out of place.

Junoob doesn’t win often, but it continues to run on and it always has to be in the mix. The former top-liner gets the inside draw which means it might settle closer to the pace and with Blake Shinn in the saddle, it could spoil the party of the favoured runners.

Race 6 tip: Benzini to win ($3.80) at Sportsbet.com.au

Race 7 – Listed Wintergarden Stakes (1400m)

Charnley River has been well supported at $3.80 following a last start placing in the Group 1 J.J. Atkins as a $51 chance. The Stuart Kendrick-trained colt exceeded expectations and it did things tough by racing three wide throughout. We’re unsure if it can produce two huge performances in a row, but it certainly looms as a winning hope.

Royal Tithe had no luck behind My Country in the Lancaster Stakes and it looks a strong chance in this. The John Zielke-trained filly is a promising type and it looks to be suited against a field like this. It is currently a $5.50 chance and that looks one of the best each way bets of the day.

Cellarman has its fair share of support at $6. The Chris Waller-trained colt scored back-to-back placings in Sydney and it should appreciate the step up in distance. Hugh Bowman sticks with it which is a positive sign and a strong performance is likely.

Race 7 tip: Royal Tithe to win ($5.50) at Crownbet.com.au

Race 8 – Group 1 Sky Racing Tattersall’s Tiara (1400m)

We can’t fault Danish Twist’s form after four consecutive wins which included the Provincial Championship during The Championships at Randwick. The Kris Lees-trained mare is in the form of its life and although it meets a tough group 1 field here, the betting suggests it’s a chance at punters have come for it. It opened at $7, drifted to $7.50, but has come back into $6.

Azkadellia is the worthy favourite, but punters will be hoping for a better effort this time around. The Ciaron Maher-trained mare finished 10th in the Stradbroke Handicap last start, but it was in the worst part of the track and a second go at Eagle Farm should do the trick. It has class on its side and $2.30 says it shouldn’t get beaten here.

Cradle Me has been in great form this campaign which included a second placing behind Ghisoni and a last start win in the Dane Ripper. The David Pfieffer-trained mare faces its toughest test, but you can’t rule it out and it could add some value to multiples.

Race 8 tip: Azkadellia to win ($2.30) at Crownbet.com.au

Race 9 – W.J. Healy Stakes (1200m)

That’s A Good Idea is drifting in the market after opening at $4.40, but it remains a winning chance in an even field. The Peter and Paul Snowden-trained gelding was a last start winner at Randwick and it drops down from 62kg to 59.5kg with Hugh Bowman in the saddle. Chance here at $4.80.

Mogador is overdue a win after four win-less starts this preparation. The John O’Shea-trained colt was well-backed to win the Queensland Day Stakes last start, but it left its run too late and was narrowly beaten. It has plenty of talent and with the inside draw and a light weight of 54kg, it could show its true potential. Current favourite at $4.50.

Odyssey Moon is a $4.80 chance following a breakthrough win at Sandown. The Robert Smerdon-trained colt has now had 16 starts for two wins and it has been well-backed to continue its winning form. This field is much harder than last start so consider only for a place bet.

Race 9 tip: Mogador to win ($4.50) at WilliamHill.com.au

Race 10 – Landfill Logistics Daybreak Lover (1400m)

Sold For Song flew home behind Tsaritsa last start and although it isn’t suited by the drop back in distance, it has plenty of ability and the weight of 54.5kg makes it a winning prospect. Apprentice James Orman will have the riding responsibilities and it will be running on late. $4 chance for the win.

Tsaritsa is the standout horse in the field having won its last three starts for Chris Waller. The three-year-old filly is destined for bigger things after looking good when winning the Queensland Guineas and the comparison to a young Winx has already been made. There will be plenty of bets running through it at $2.10 which isn’t the worst price available.

Salmanazar wasn’t disgraced when second last start at Ipswich and it could add some value in this. The Tony Gollan-trained gelding won consecutive races with ease prior to its last start and on that form it should be able to contest for a placing at $8.50.

Race 10 tip: Tsaritsa to win ($2.10) at Sportsbet.com.au
