Sydney Cup special – How racing fans on Twitter see it
THE unfortunate events of day two of The Championships a fortnight ago overshadowed what was a successful carnival, but the re-scheduling of the Sydney Cup gives racing enthusiasts the chance to see another group one race on a stand-alone day
There is plenty of news heading into the re-run of the $2 million race, and social media is buzzing with chatter about Saturday afternoon’s feature at Randwick.
Race favourite Big Duke confirmed for Sydney Cup
After starting the original running of the Sydney Cup as a $2.80 favourite, there was no greater beneficiary of the re-scheduling of the race than Big Duke.
The Darren Weir runner struggled in the run, and would not have made an impact if the race continued.
There was no guarantees Big Duke would take its place in the re-running of the race despite being the $3.20 favourite in Sportsbet.com.au’s all-in market, but the horse’s place was locked away on Wednesday.
Sydney Cup favourite Big Duke had two nice 1000m gallops at Terang this morning and appears right on target for Saturday’s two mile test.

After a stint in Singapore, it was fair to say the Australian fans are happy the Bossman is back in the country.

Not everyone is convinced the favourite will have a walk in the park on Saturday though.
Who Shot Thebarman is a $13 outsider at Sportsbet.com.au, but one punter believes it is the horse to beat heading into the weekend.
@TheProfitsComAu Who Shot Thebarman is obviously the fittest horse in the field. I think he’s still going around the Randwick track. Get on.

We are not sure which way the group one will go, we are just hoping for a race without incident.
