Best Bet
Race 1 – Kisukano @ $2.60

Punters will be off to a flyer when the speedy Kisukano returns to the races in the opener on Saturday. She is the only horse to beat Rothfire, the JJ Atkins winner and Everest contender, and we are able to bet nearly $3 for the filly. Her win over the star colt came at the Gold Coast on a Soft 7, so she will love the conditions at the Sunshine Coast as she looks to make it four wins from five starts. She should land in a great spot under Mark Du Plessis from barrier nine and finish right over the top of them. She could be something very special.

Next Best
Race 4 – Fabulonh @ $4.80

We nearly had Fabulonh in the numbers for the Glasshouse Handicap later in the program before he was scratched to be sent around in this Benchmark 80, which looks a much more suitable race for the Lonhro seven-year-old. Trained at the track by Darryl Hansen, the big grey has only missed the places once at the course in the form of a fourth less than two lengths behind Red Chase at the start of this campaign. There is plenty of speed engaged, which will suit his penchant for getting back and finish strongly down the centre. It is said that greys love the wet, and this is no different for this galloper, with five wins and eight placings on a rain-affected track. Jim Byrne will bide his time from barrier two and run home over the top of them.

Best Value
Race 6 – Bold Hunter @ $21

We were with this galloper at Mackay when he placed second just under a fortnight ago. He found the front early in the straight after having to work hard to find a good spot and was edged out late. Prior to that, he was racing in solid company down this way with a fifth behind Shadow Of Time at Doomben. Dropping back to 1000m should suit the Spirit Of Boom gelding, which is drawn much better here than in his last few starts. We can expect Ryan Wiggins to be on the speed from barrier four, in which case Bold Hunter will take some catching if he gets some cheap sectionals.
