2020 Summoned Stakes betting preview
The Group 3 Summoned Stakes for mares will close the 10-race card at Sandown this Saturday afternoon. The 1500m race has attracted a capacity field of 16 with one emergency, and with a $4 favourite in Missile Mantra, it looks like a tough way to end the quaddie on Zipping Classic Day.
It was a tough watch for punters when Game Of Thorns was squeezed for room at an important stage during the Inglis Bracelet on Oaks Day. She almost fell when the eventual winner caught her up, but Kris Lees’ mare balanced back up and charged through the line to only go down a length. She should get a gun run in transit from barrier three and will be hard to hold out with a little more luck in the dying stages.
Although unwanted in the betting, Mrs Beckham was a convincing winner on Bendigo Cup Day. She took over inside the last 200m and kicked clear to score by two-and-a-half lengths. She steps back into black-type racing for the first time since March, and if her form so far this campaign is anything to go by, she will be fighting out the finish with her fellow market fancies.
It’s ridiculous the price that La Tigeresa has come up in the Summoned Stakes. She was awkwardly away in the Hong Kong Jockey Club Stakes, giving the field a six-length head start over 1400m. Despite the horrific jump, she was only beaten four lengths to Rich Hips. Prior to that, she had been racing in consistent form. She will settle towards the back of the field from the wide barrier and have the last look at them, so keep an eye out for this one late on in the running.
