Stradbroke inquiry to be completed

An inquiry into interference in the Group One Stradbroke Handicap should be completed by stewards on Sunday.

New Zealand-based jockey Leith Innes, who rode Counterattack, was charged with causing interference to Patrick Moloney on Kaeprenick in last week’s race at Eagle Farm.

However, the inquiry was adjourned when Moloney left the course without telling stewards.

Moloney was later fined $400 for disobeying a direction to stay on the track.

Innes asked the inquiry be finalised via the internet and stewards had hoped to arrange a link this week.

Chief steward Alan Reardon said Innes was riding in New Zealand on Saturday but would be back on the Sunshine Coast on Sunday.

“It means we can have the inquiry completed at the Sunshine Coast with Innes in attendance,” Reardon said.

Innes is on the Sunshine Coast to ride Save The Date in the Parkland Tavern Handicap.
