Jockey Brad Stewart continued his red hot form with a win for one of his greatest supporters in trainer Pat Duff when Soaring Heart scored a Doomben.

Stewart, who flew back from a troubled trip to Rockhampton on Friday, was able to dictate the pace on Soaring Heart ($9.50) and came away to win by 2 1/4 lengths to Miss Quaintly ($10) in the Duporth Tavern Two Year Old (1350m).

He has had seven winners from his 15 rides since he resumed from a month’s suspension.

Duff said he was surprised by the starting price of Soaring Heart, especially since Stewart had been in such great form.

“Brad has ridden for me for years including a second on Hard To Catch in the Stradbroke Hcp. He also won a stack of races for me on old Steel Zip,” Duff said.

“Brad has been one of the best jockeys here for a long time and when he is on song there is no one better.”

Duff trains Soaring Heart for a syndicate headed by his long-time client and former District Court judge Wally Tutt.

“I’ve been training for Wally and his family for 40 years and I always get a thrill when we win one. The old firm is back,” Duff said.

Soaring Heart will have a final run for this campaign in a 1600m race at Doomben in a fortnight.

Stewart was one of nine jockeys caught in a travel nightmare on the way to Rockhampton on Friday.

He missed a winning ride but arrived in time to win on Last Armageddon.

“Pat has stuck with me for along time and he might have another nice horse in Soaring Heart,” Stewart.
