Group One-placed sprinter Derryn has found a new home at New Zealand’s Grangewiliam Stud.

Mark and Jane Corcoran, the proprietors of Grangewilliam, were on the look-out for a speed stallion and Derryn fit the bill.

“I approached New Zealand Bloodstock to keep an eye out for a new stallion and I was keen on a speed horse,” Mark Corcoran said.

“When this one came up I looked at his race videos and I was sold. He was probably unlucky not to win a Group One.

“He’s got a great pedigree, really good blood, and a family that leaves top stallions. He’s got the looks to go with it as well. He’s the complete package.”

The four-year-old had 20 starts, 19 in black-type races and nine at Group One level for the Lindsay Park training team.

His best win came in the Group Two Arrowfield Sprint in which he beat Global Glamour and Impending while he ran third in the 2017 Doomben 10,000 won by Redzel.

“Derryn will be out here in a couple of weeks and we’re selling limited lifetime breeding rights and there has been very good interest,” Corcoran said.

Derryn will stand at Grangewilliam for $5000 + GST in 2018 alongside Zed, Haradasun, The Bold One and Dial A Prayer.
