Sofia Rosa delayed in Sydney

Australian Oaks winner Sofia Rosa will remain in Sydney for the time being as she and two other fillies recover from a bizarre mishap.

Sofia Rosa and fellow Oaks contenders Valley Girl and Capella were given a high dosage by a vet of a pre-flight insect spray ahead of their scheduled return to New Zealand.

Trainer Stephen Marsh said the three reacted badly and had to be treated at a veterinary clinic.

“The fillies got terribly agitated and it basically burned them so we had to hose them off. It was shocking,” Marsh told nzracing.co.nz

He said Sofia Rosa would stay in Sydney until Monday.

“After what she’s gone through I won’t put her through the stress of travel straight away and she will fly home on Monday, all going well,” Marsh said.
