THE Henry Dwyer-trained filly Snitty Kitty has registered the first black-type win of its career after outlasting its rivals in a gutsy performance in the Amgrow Lightning Handicap at Doomben on Saturday.

The talented three-year-old, which closed at $4.20 at WilliamHill.com.au after a late betting plunge, recorded its third win this preparation after hitting the lead at the 200m and pushing strongly to the line.

Outsider Upstart Pride defied its long odds to return $3 the place at Sportsbet.com.au while one of the key market elects Prompt Return ($1.90 at Crownbet.com.au) bounced back from its poor last start performance to round out the placings.

Jockey Tim Clark believes Snitty Kitty’s class shone through today after a number of quality lead in runs.

“She ran really well at Scone,” Clark said.

“Coming back that 50 metres in distance was positive.”

The talented hoop said the horse did not “get around the track at all” with the win a testament to its grit and determination.

“To tough it out and win like that, it was a good performance,” Clark said.

“She’s obviously a good filly, especially around these short trips.”

After the debut win as part of the Brisbane Winter Carnival, more starts in the sunshine state are expected for the honest filly.

After the Doomben success, stable representative John McLachlan said he thinks Snitty Kitty will remain in Queensland for another start.

“We will have to see what is exactly available now a couple of the meetings have been moved to other tracks,” he said.
