Kiamichi’s Golden Slipper win will boost breeding in Queensland where her sire Sidestep stands.

The Golden Slipper win of Godolphin filly Kiamichi will prove a great boost to the Queensland breeding industry.

KIamichi is by Sidestep out of Ouachita and is a dream result for the Queensland based Telemon Thoroughbreds operation.

Sidestep, by Exceed and Excel, stood last season for $7700 at Telemon Thoroughbreds at Innisplain in south east Queensland.

It was the first year of a two-year partnership agreement with Darley for Sidestep to stand at Telemon.

Saturday’s win in the richest two-year-old race in the world has shot Sidestep to the top of the first season sire tables by earnings.

Telemon Thoroughbreds owner Dan Fletcher said the past week had been unbelievable with Kiamichi winning the Group Three Magic Night Stakes to secure a place in the Golden Slipper and then claiming the big race.

“It’s what dreams are made of and it was a dream result for Sidestep. He was runner-up in the Golden Slipper in 2013 and now his daughter has gone one better, but what it means for his stud career is exciting,” Fletcher said.

Sidestep served 57 mares last year but is expected to get far more in the upcoming season.
