Sha Tin Racecourse is the destination for Hong Kong racing on Saturday afternoon, with a massive 11-part program set to commence at 4pm local time. The rail moves out to the C+3 position on the turf course, and with no significant rainfall forecast in the lead-up, participants should be racing on a genuine Good 4 surface. Check out our best bets and quaddie selections for the Sha Tin races on July 5.

Best Bet at Sha Tin: Fortune Boy

Missing the start proved costly for Fortune Boy in his latest outing at Sha Tin on June 22, rattling home to miss by a nostril. The son of Contributor couldn’t reel in the margin of Mister Dapper but never shirked the task, showing an incredible turn of speed from the rear of the field. Stepping out to 1800m should be no issue for the David Hayes-trained gelding, and provided he can ping the lids to sit handier from stall three, Fortune Boy will prove hard to hold out.

Best Bet

Race 8 – Fortune Boy Silks#3 Fortune Boy (3)

3yo Gelding | T: David Hayes | J: Zac Purton (59kg)

Next Best at Sha Tin: Patch Of Stars

Patch Of Stars has been ultra-impressive at the back end of the season, producing a hat-trick of wins in as many starts. The son of All Too Hard particularly caught the eye in his most recent outing at Sha Tin on June 14, coasting to victory by 1.5 lengths under minimal urging from Zac Purton. The handicapper adds a 6kg penalty for that dominant performance, and although this field has more depth than what he faced last time out, expect Patch Of Stars to continue his winning ways.

Next Best

Race 11 – Patch Of Stars Silks#1 Patch Of Stars (8)

3yo Gelding | T: Manfred Man | J: Zac Purton (61kg)

Best Value at Sha Tin: Strange Alert

Although Strange Alert performed poorly as a market fancy in his Sha Tin debut on June 14, he gets a terrific opportunity to bounce back. The son of Shamus Award didn’t have much luck first-up, forced to check off heels at a crucial stage before making inroads down the centre when it was all over. He needs to get the start right after drawing barrier five, and provided Strange Alert can keep tabs on the leaders throughout, expect him to be powering over the top at a juicy each-way price with the top online bookmakers.

Best Value

Race 6 – Strange Alert Silks#6 Strange Alert (5)

3yo Gelding | T: David Eustace | J: Andrea Atzeni (57.5kg)
