Sensei pleasing Michael & Matthew Pitman ahead of Wellington Cup Carnival
A Group 1 date with the older horses is the preferred option for Sensei during next month’s Wellington Cup carnival.
The colt has been nominated for the Group 1 Grant Plumbing Levin Classic (1600m) on January 13, but trainers Michael and Matthew Pitman are keener to tackle the Group 1 JR & N Berkett Telegraph (1200m) a week later if Sensei can gain a start.
The three-year-old has won three of his 10 starts and hasn’t raced since he finished fifth, after being forced over extra ground on the turn by a wayward runner, in the Group 1 New Zealand 2000 Guineas (1600m).
