Sandown Wednesday tips and best bets, May 13 racing preview
Victorian metropolitan racing heads to Sandown on Wednesday, with eight races to be won on the Hillside track. We have examined the form and included our free tips for the May 13, 2020 meeting.
The track is currently rated a Soft 5 and it should stay that way with a few light showers around Melbourne in the morning. The rail will be in the true position for the entire circumference so we should see a fair track all afternoon. You can view the Sandown fields and odds comparison here.
Independent Road $4.80 at Bet365Independent Road looks ready to peak fourth up this prep, coming off a solid second at Flemington three weeks ago. Up to 1800m will suit the 3yo son of Declaration of War and getting on to a big track will benefit him as his best work has been at Flemington in the past. From barrier 7, Mark Zahra should be able to find a good spot in the top half of the field. We think the Lindsay Park team can send followers home on a winning note.

Write Enuff $2.90 at Bet365Race 2 on the card sees the mares battle it out over 1000m and we think that Ken Keys’ 4yo, Write Enuff can add to her perfect soft track record here. She maps to box seat from barrier 5 behind likely leaders Uptown Lola and Pariano. While the latter got the upper hand when the two met last start, Write Enuff was checked off heels at the 700m before finishing off very strongly. We think Zahra can find enough to turn the tables here.

Castel Sant’angelo$8.50 at SportsbetGai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott saddle up just the one runner at Sandown on Wednesday in Castel Sant’angelo. This horse has been knocking on the door this time in with three placings from six runs. The race should be run to suit with what looks to be very little early speed so Ben Melham should find an uncontested lead. The wide draw does pose a slight threat but given his racing pattern, the son of Pierro should be able to overcome barrier 14. At around the $9 mark, we are happy to have an each-way ticket here.
