Sandown racing free odds, form and tips for Wednesday, 19 July

Midweek tips
WEDNESDAY racing returns to Sandown for an interesting eight race card on the outskirts of Melbourne.

There are plenty of runners going around that we have seen before, and some promising first starters taking to the track, so there will be plenty of interest and excitement from racing enthusiasts directed towards the south of the country.

We have previewed the full card today and we think there is some real value to be found early on in the piece.

Crownbet is our selected bookmaker for Sandown on Wednesday, and this means anyone who does not yet have an account can sign up now and bet on our full form guide after utilising the company’s first deposit bonus for all new punters. Race 1 – Clanbrooke Racing Handicap (1000m)

Something Violet comes into this race with something to prove. After a brilliant maiden win the filly failed to finish in the first half of the field in two subsequent runs and was put out for a spell. It won its return barrier trial in great style at the beginning of the month and looks set for a big campaign.

As It Lies failed as a favourite last time out but will take a lot from the experience. The two-year-old only went down by half a length and will benefit a lot from the competitive hit out. Will be the one competitor for our runner.

Race 1 tip: Something Violet +600 at Crownbet.com.au

Race 2 – Yarramalong Racing Club Handicap (1000m)

In a massive field for the second race on the card Darren Weir-trained Holy Blade looks the standout runner.. It is only confronting the third race of its short career but already the colt has turned heads after recording a three and a half length win on debut. We expect another strong run from the two-year-old.

Fully Maxed has a bit more racing experience on this field and has recorded its maiden victory, unlike a number of the horses that will be lining up here. The horse is resuming after a four month layoff and has the potential to race well fresh.
Race 2 tip: Holy Blade (+350) at CrownBet.com.au

Race 3 – Resimax Group BM64 (1300m)

Mr Sinatra sang for us three weeks ago at Ballarat and there is no reason to think it cannot replicate the form again on Wednesday. The gelding did what it had to as a short-priced favourite and can race well fresh.

Lightly raced three-year-old Booradley is third up today for the first time in its career and gets the right race here. The gelding missed out by less than a length on its Sandown debut three-weeks ago and will benefit greatly from the experience.

Race 3 tip: Booradley +360 at Crownbet.com.au

Race 4 – Moorookyle Park BM64 (1600m)

Summer Glen has been impressive without breaking through for a victory. The three-year-old filly has just one win in its 12 start career but has a better than 50 percent placing record. Looms as one of the main hopes here.

Testa Life is a horse we are expecting a big improvement from. The horse jumps as a +1700 hope at Crownbet.com.au on Wednesday but that belies its talent. The horse will relish the rain considering its undefeated on heavy tracks and could tighten right in before the jump.
Race 4 tip: Summer Glen (+230) at CrownBet.com.au

Race 5 – Ladbrokes Odds Boost BM70 (1600m)

I Am The Dark returns to the city after a short run around in the country tracks where it recorded a first and a third at Donald and Hamilton respectively. The horse is a heavy track specialist and if conditions persist in Victoria the horse will be suited down to the ground.

Darren Weir takes Sohool into the fifth at Sandown hoping for an upswing in fortunes. The horse has finished fifth twice and ninth last start, but had a plethora of excuses in all three of those events. The four-year-old is due for a change of luck and from barrier six will have no issues finding a good spot in transit.

Race 5 tip: I Am The Dark +1400 at Crownbet.com.au

Race 6 – Mypunter.com BM84 (1000m)

Gun Case looks the obvious choice from this race. The horse jumps massively in weight but has a class factor on the majority of the field and should be able to dictate its own terms from barrier three.

Kalashani Lad is looking to maintain a brilliant run of recent form. The horse has two wins and a third placing from its last three runs and has every chance to take this race out. Gate nine is a slight concern but early speed from horses around it could see it easily find a slot in.

Race 6 tip: Gun Case (+320) at Crownbet.com.au

Race 7 – Chef’s Hat BM84 (2400m)

Cismontane could be the unluckiest horse in Australia right now. The Waterhouse and Bott runner has only missed the placings three times in career but the gelding has failed to convert that good form into wins since February of this year. We suspect if the horse had a better barrier than 11 it would jump odds on, but we are still more than happy to recommend a punt on the four-year-old.

Chequered Flag is another galloper that jumps from a wide gate that would be much better in the market had it drawn a respectable galloper. The form cannot be denied however, and is chasing back-to-back wins here. The five-year-old has never missed a placing at either the track nor the distance and should be right in the mix.

Race 7 tip: Cismontane +320 to win at Crownbet.com.au

Race 8 – Le Pine Funerals BM78 (1400m)

Smokin’ Bella is chasing a hattrick of wins on Wednesday and is more than capable of claiming the third-straight victory. The horse took almost a year and a half to win its second career win, but now it has it does not know how to stop winning. Looms as the biggest threat in the race.

Trinity Hill rates extremely well coming into this and has plenty of great form at the track. At the start of the month it missed out by a head margin and it should be pushing for another victory on the very same track.

Race 8 tip: Smokin’ Bella (+280) at Crownbet.com.au
