Sandown quaddie form and free tips, Wednesday June 29, 2016

quaddie of the week

IT’S winter racing at its finest this Wednesday as Sandown hosts an almighty quaddie on the final four cards.

The nominations for all four races have been mightily impressive considering it’s late June, so get the account ready and bet into the big quaddie pool.

Big fields make for big payouts as the odds on offer are much better. There doesn’t look to be any standout favourites, which means the racing will be even and we could see the quaddie being taken out by a single ticket.

The best place to take a quaddie is at Sportsbet which have fixed odds betting on all four quaddie legs.

Leg 1 – Mypunter.com R70 Handicap (2400m)

Kaye Club is the opening favourite of the quaddie. The Robert Smerdon-trained mare is at $3.80 after winning back-to-back races and it’s most recent win came by 4.75 lengths at Mornington. The daughter of High Chaparral is bred to see out the rise in distance and it is an obvious quaddie inclusion.

Bayanova is a three-win mare which has contested some extremely tough races. Trained by Michael Kent, the five-year-old was a winner in rating 84 grade at Sandown Lakeside before being considered good enough to contest the Group 1 Sydney Cup. It finished a distant last, but it has rebounded nicely with two good runs and it shouldn’t be left out at $6.

King Way is on the second line of betting at $4.20. It’s only a one-win horse from 12 starts, but it has placed on eight occasions and that consistency is what punters enjoy. Three starts this campaign for three top placings and getting Craig Williams in the saddle is a big factor. Should be thrown in the mix.

Leg 1 tips: 3, 4, 8

Leg 2 – Ladbrokes Live Play R64 Handicap (1000m)

Scott Brunton lines up Nunivak which hails from Tasmania and is unbeaten from two starts. The son of Artie Schiller won on debut at Hobart by 4.8 lengths and followed that up with a 4.5-length win as the $1.40 favourite. It’s currently price at $5 looks like good value.

A must-include is the Darren Weir-trained Broadway And First which is fresh up after a six-month spell. The three-year-old is talented at best and its recent form includes two close-up finishes behind Vostok. That’s strong form for a midweek race at Sandown and although it has drawn barrier 16, it should be included with Brad Rawiller in the saddle.

Prontezza was disappointing last start at Moonee Valley, but that run came in a higher grade and its run prior was impressive. That 4.25-length win came only in maiden grade, but the daughter of More Than Ready is bred to be handy and it should progress through the grades. It looks a well-weighted chance at $5.50.

Leg 2 tips: 3, 7, 14

Leg 3 – Crown Golden Ale R70 (1700m)

My Sanctuary is a solid type for Darren Weir which has winning experience on a wet track. The four-year-old is a two-time winner from eight starts and its most recent run for fifth in this grade wasn’t too bad. It is bred to run distances being by Oasis Dream and it won its only start on this track. Nice chance at $7.50.

Bonnie Belle is only a one-win mare, but is the current $4.60 favourite with bookmakers. The Michael Moroney-trained mare has recorded three consecutive second placings and two of them have come in this grade. The daughter of Keeper is rated perfectly down at 54kg and that could be the telling difference. Should be tough to beat.

At the same weight is Virginia Water which hasn’t been overly impressive, but the drop back in distance might help and the bookmakers have kept it very safe. It’s currently at $9 which is shorter than expected, so respect that support and include it in selections.

Leg 3 tips: 3, 10, 12

Leg 4 – Le Pine Funerals R70 (1800m)

Turbo Street brings some class into the race and it drops back in grade for this. The Tony McEvoy-trained gelding has won three from 19 and is dropping back from rating 78 grade last start. It will be forced to carry 59.5kg after the claim of Dylan Dunn, but it has the ability and it must be included in the quaddie from the inside barrier. $4.80 available.

Michael Kent lines up Maraudamiss which was working home well in this grade last start. The four-year-old was a nice winner three back at Ballarat and it has been around the mark of late. It won its only start on a heavy track and drawing barrier 16 is the only negative. Current favourite at $3.90.

Triple Gold is on the third line of betting at $5.50 following a last start win at Sale. That came in this grade and it rises only 2kg up in weight. The well-bred son of Teofilo has been mixing its distances, but has found its calling in this range and it looks a strong winning chance again.

Leg 4 tips: 1, 4, 11
