Race 1 – Maiden Plate (1300m)
Night Falls has not missed a placing across three career starts and looks ready to win. The colt resumed well on Marh 29, finishing second behind Exceltara. Looms as the winner here.
Race 1 tip: Night Falls to win ($2.90 at Sportsbet)
Race 2 – Benchmark 84 (1212m)
Hegemon looks to be over the odds based on recent runs. While this is a sharp rise in grading the horse has won twice and placed a further two times over five runs. Well worth an investment at the current price.
Race 2 tip: Hegemon to win ($8 at Neds)
Race 3 – Benchmark 78 (1400m)
Another runner that’s stepping up in grading but cannot be faulted for its form is Ardra Storm. The horse had a run of three-straight wins snapped when it missed out to impressive type Hellava Babe on March 28. Ardra Storm will benefit from the drop in distance.
Race 3 tip: Ardra Storm to win ($10 at Sportsbet)
Race 4 – Benchmark 64 (1600m)
Archie Alexander-trained gelding Connery looks primed here. After breaking the maiden at Stawell by just shy of three and a half lengths the three-year-old looks ready to fulfill the promise shown prior to the breakthrough.
Race 4 tip: Connery to win ($3.60 at Sportsbet)
Race 5 – Benchmark 78 (2100m)
Big Hammer has a third-up win in the past and comes into this race at that point in the preparation. The horse improved from sixth to third to start this campaign and looks ready to peak once again.
Race 5 tip: Big Hammer to win ($5 at William Hill)
Race 6 – Benchmark 64 (1400m)
Extreme Bliss looks to be peaking just in time for this event. After a disappointing seventh upon its resumption the filly has gone on to finish third by one and a half lengths before missing out by a lip on April 2. From barrier three its the horse to beat.
Race 6 tip: Extreme Bliss to win ($4.40 at Sportsbet)
Race 7 – Benchmark 70 (1400m)
A last-start second lends us to believe that Galaxy Raider is ready to win. The horse has two second placings from as many third-up attempts and the runner’s up cheque last time out was at a higher grading than this.
Race 7 tip: Galaxy Raider to win ($2.60 at Neds)
Race 8 – Ladbrokes Handicap (1200m)
From a great gate Artstrum will be hard to hold out here. Second-up the horse finished within half a length of the winner at Ballarat in a BM64 contest and it has a third-up win in the past. Should be around the mark in a winnable race.
Race 8 tip: Artstrum to win ($11 at Ladbrokes)
