Sandown betting tips and form, Wednesday January 10

Punters Preview Sandown

SANDOWN hosts big betting fields this Wednesday where punters should find good value throughout the eight-race card.

We have done the form and have picked out our best tips for every race.

Race 1 – Maiden Plate (1300m)

Bobby Rocks has been close at its last two starts and it could be knocking on the door of a win here. The three-year-old might find this a touch harder, but the fitness is under the belt so consider at odds.

Race 1 tip: Bobby Rocks to win at Neds.com.au

Race 2 – Maiden Plate (1600m)

Buckhound went well enough for second on debut at Echuca and that form could stack up well here. The Danny O’Brien-trained three-year-old is a nicely-bred type which shouldn’t take long to break out of maiden grades.

Race 2 tip: Buckhound to win at CrownBet.com.au

Race 3 – BM78 Handicap (2400m)

Crafty Devil scored consecutive wins earlier this campaign and that form should take it close here. The Darren Weir-trained runner is a seven-time winner from 30 starts and despite the big weight, its class should show up nicely.

Race 4 – BM70 Handicap (1500m)

Downhearted looks about ready to show its best form after consecutive placings. The Mick Price-trained five-year-old doesn’t win with frequency, but the talent is there and having Damien Oliver in the saddle doesn’t hurt.

Race 4 tip: Downhearted to win at Sportsbet.com.au

Race 5 – BM70 Handicap (1000m)

Nature Strip has plenty of speed to burn and only the weight would stop it here. The Robert Smerdon-trained gelding was a 5.5-length winner at Moonee Valley last start and despite carrying a big weight, it might not matter over the short distance.

Race 5 tip: Nature Strip to win at Neds.com.au

Race 6 – BM70 Handicap (1800m)

Yulong Sheng Long has won two of its last four starts and that’s good enough form to win again. The Weir-trained son of Pendragon wasn’t far behind them at Geelong last start and this looks slightly easier.

Race 6 tip: Yulong Sheng Long to win at Sportsbet.com.au

Race 7 – BM64 Handicap (1000m)

[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1177667_07]
Belwazi is a nice type which continues to run good races. The Jerome Hunter-trained mare has won four of her six career starts and it has beaten some smart types along the way. The handicapper hasn’t helped, but she gets some weight off her back.

Race 7 tip: Belwazi to win at CrownBet.com.au

Race 8 – BM70 Handicap (1300m)

Notio is fresh up for Team Hawkes and it looked good winning last time out at Canterbury. The switch to Sandown won’t worry it as he has experience going left handed.

Race 8 tip: Notio to win at Neds.com.au
