Sandown and Canterbury tips for the Wednesday racing multi bet

Real LoveSANDOWN and Canterbury will set the scene for another big day of Wednesday racing this week – the perfect opportunity to find value for a racing multi bet.

In last week’s Wednesday racing multi, a number of close finishes hindered our chances and the unfortunate injury to odds-on shot Miss Royale sealed our fate.

We did label Southern Legend as a great each way hope at $11’s and $3’s and it got the job done for us, so we’ll look to find more value runners this Wednesday.

Starting the day is a Maiden 2YO at Canterbury where Gai Waterhouse and John Singleton line up the hilariously-named Kiss And Make Up.

Wednesday racing place multi-bet

Canterbury Race 1 – Kiss And Make Up at $1.83

It’s good to see that Gai Waterhouse and prominent owner John Singleton have put their differences aside and can make light up a sticky situation. Kiss And Make Up is an aptly-named son of More Than Ready x. Fashions Afield and it looks likely to make a promising debut. It has drawn awkwardly in barrier nine, but jockey Kerrin McEvoy is riding well at the moment.

Canterbury Race 5 – Miss Denni at $1.50

We were contemplating putting Miss Denni in our win multi, but it has six placings to its name and only two wins, so we’re playing the numbers. The Chris Waller-trained mare won well at Randwick two starts back and it chased hard after Heartlings last start at Warwick Farm. James McDonald rides at a nice weight of 57.5kg and we’ll take the $1.50 for the place option.

Sandown Race 3 – Miss Wilson at $1.83

We’re adding another Miss to the multi-bet and we think it’s a solid chance. The former New Zealand runner finished third when fresh up at Ballarat and even though it steps up in distance, it’s more suited to this race. It carried 59.5kg last start and being a small-framed filly, that was simply too tough. It drops down to 55.5kg for this and it looks a dangerous proposition given the circumstances.

Sandown Race 6 – Master Of Arts at $1.80

Quality horse which finished third in the Group 3 Grand Prix at Doomben at its last start. The Darren Weir-trained four-year-old hasn’t finished out of the money in five career starts and it looks a nice stayer in the making. Running over the 1400m distance won’t be ideal for this, but it won its debut over the same distance and it has a significant class edge over this field. Inside draw suits and we think the money being offered is good value.

Canterbury Race 2 – Chetwood at $1.85

Short price for a debutante, but it’s from the powerful Godolphin stables and the money usually talks with their runners. It has looked good in preparation for this and it’s bred well enough to make a good showing. James McDonald will need to do some work from barrier 10, but we can see it going forward and being tough to beat in this.

Canterbury Race 6 – Way Too Good at $4.00

Fresh up here after winning on this track last time out. The three-year-old filly ran well in its start prior when finishing fifth in the Listed Reg Allen Stakes at Rosehill behind the well-performed Alart. Drawing barrier one is a big assist and Hugh Bowman takes over the riding duties. The current favourite is drawn wide and that should give Way Too Good a nice trip in the running.

Sandown Race 4 – Moment Of Pride at $5.50

Has won twice from eight starts and it finished off well behind Tivaci last start. It rises in distance to where it won its only start and it drops down a rating band for this run. It does rise from 57kg to 60kg, but that’s deserving and there are no superstars down in the weights. Should progress through the grades nicely and provide punters with some good value.
