Rosehill racing tips

ROSEHILL welcomes back some serious spring types in the San Domenico Stakes and we’re getting excited.

The $150,000 feature includes the likes of Blue Diamond placegetter Pariah, the talented Tulip and speed merchants Madeenaty and Condor Heroes.

The Ming Dynasty is another class race this Saturday which features the unbeaten Assimilate and Hypnotist, but there will be plenty of attention on a number of runners in the co-feature of the meeting.

We have form, updated odds and free tips for all races at Rosehill on Saturday so get the best odds with Topbetta’s Global Tote product.

Race 1 – Tab Highway Handicap (1100m)

Lifesaver didn’t have much luck when running second behind Another Sin last start, but there’s less depth in this race. The Matthew Dunn-trained four-year-old won its first two race day starts and it was only beaten by fitness and a talented type when fresh up at Rosehill. It maps perfectly for this run and it could take advantage.

Red Knot has consistent form and it too was only narrowly beaten in this grade last start. The Rodney Northam-trained five-year-old is bred to win over longer distances, but it’s capable over the sprinting trips and having Hugh Bowman in the saddle is going to help its chances.

Race 1 tip: Lifesaver to win at Sportsbet.com.au

Race 2 – Pro It Handicap (1500m)

Awoke is the class runner of the field, but it will have to contend with a big weight. The Chris Waller-trained mare has won three from 10 starts, including two starts back at Canterbury where it defeated the talented The Pharoah. It lost no admirers when running second last start and it should get every chance to win here.

Carrying the same weight will be Chatachuk, which is coming off an impressive win at Kembla Grange. The James Cummings-trained daughter of Lonhro has been around some tidy types this year and it can handle wet and dry tracks. It’s the up-and-coming type in the field and it could overthrow Awoke with some luck.

Race 2 tip: Awoke to win at Ladbrokes.com.au

Race 3 – ASX Thomson Charity Foundation Handicap (1100m)

Skylight Glow returns from a spell having not run since finishing sixth in the Lexus Hybrid at Flemington in November. Now with Kris Lees, the four-year-old looks set to make a good return to the track and it was good enough to finish third in the Ming Dynasty on this day last year. This isn’t the hardest field it has ever raced against so consider for the win.

Not much went right for Tango Rain last start, but it does now have fitness under its belt. The Gerald Ryan-trained runner looked above average last campaign when running second in the San Domenico Stakes on this day behind Star Turn. That form has been steady since and it will be well-favoured with bookmakers.

Race 3 tip: Tango Rain to win at Topbetta.com.au

Race 4 – Pacific Boating Handicap (2000m)

The unbeaten Chatelard has looked good in three starts to date and it gets in well here. The Waller-trained four-year-old held on gamely at Canterbury last start and makes the rise in grade here, but it’s going to get every chance from the inside barrier. It gets in well on the weights and it could dictate play from the outset.

It’s unsure if Vaucluse Bay will be starting after it pulled up with a problem last start, but it should be considered if it does. The Waller-trained runner looked good prior to that run when winning by four lengths at Rosehill. It was a winner over subsequent winner Arbeitsam prior to that so that form should stack up nicely.

Race 4 tip: Chatelard to win at Bet365.com

Race 5 – New Caledonia Travel Premier’s Cup (1900m)

[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1138072_05]

Destiny’s Kiss brings the class having finished off strongly in the Winter Cup last start at Rosehill. The Joe Pride-trained nine-year-old is showing no signs of its age and it looks ready to win again. It would prefer some moisture in the surface, but respect regardless of the conditions.

Broadside is a former Kiwi runner which has won five of its 11 starts. The Waterhouse/Bott-trained six-year-old is dropping back in distance after contesting the Stayer’s Cup over two miles, but it has form around this distance and it has a fair amount of talent on its side.

Race 5 tip: Broadside to place at Sportsbet.com.au

Race 6 – Ming Dynasty Quality (1400m)

Mahalangur was a good winner on debut at Newcastle as the odds on favourite. The Hawkes-trained three-year-old has gone relatively under the radar since that win, but it’s considered good enough to contest the Ming Dynasty. Having Brenton Avdulla in the saddle with only 53kg on its back will make it hard to beat.

Assimilate comes into this with an unbeaten record and its last start win has since been franked. The son of Sebring defeated Dracarys at Randwick and it has since come out and won at stakes level. There’s plenty of upside with this runner and it might be at false odds in the market.

Race 6 tip: Mahalangur to win at Topbetta.com.au

Race 7 – TPG Telecom San Domenico Stakes (1100m)

[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1138072_07]

Pariah is the current $2.60 favourite and rightfully so. The Snowden-trained colt finished second behind Catchy in the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes last season before running 11th on a heavy track in the Golden Slipper. The son of Redoute’s Choice has been working well in preparation for this and it owns a stylish win over Menari on this track last preparation.

Tulip is a smart filly for Lindsay Park which showed tremendous form last time in. The daughter of Pierro finished fourth in the Blue Diamond before winning the Magic Night Stakes. It then ran third in the Golden Slipper and fifth in the Sires’ Produce. That’s great form for this and it should go close if those runs on a heavy track didn’t take too much out of it.

Race 7 tip: Pariah to win ($2.60) at Topbetta.com.au

Race 8 – Lindt Handicap (1500m)

The Pharoah scored an overdue win last start and it could continue its winning run here. The Ryan-trained four-year-old has yet to finish outside of the money in three starts at Rosehill and it defeated a similar field last time out. We’re expecting punters to back it positively again.

Regal Monarch has looked decent in three Australian starts, but more will be expected in its second season. The European import finished second behind Vassal in February and although that form has looked average since, it showed form over distance and on slow tracks overseas. Bowman is an interesting engagement so keep an eye on betting movement.

Race 8 tip: The Pharoah to win at CrownBet.com.au

Race 9 – FIIG Handicap (1200m)

Bonny O’Reilly is back after a freshen up and it looms as a major chance. The Bjorn Baker-trained mare has won two from three fresh up starts and all three runs at Rosehill. It had no luck in the Tatt’s Tiara and this is a massive drop back in class. The 59.5kg isn’t too bad considering and it will land on the speed from barrier one.

Selita has promised plenty throughout its career and it doesn’t get a better chance here. The six-year-old has been consistent this campaign without winning, but carrying only 51.5kg gives it an 8kg advantage over Bonny O’Reilly. Expect Rachel King to boot it up from the outset and use the claim to her advantage.

Race 9 tip: Selita to win at Bet365.com
