Samatha Clenton to undergo surgery

Apprentice Samantha Clenton will need surgery after fracturing two vertebrae and her left collarbone in a race fall at Scone.

Clenton was taken to Newcastle’s John Hunter Hospital after Friday’s fall and Racing NSW doctor David Duckworth said she would have an operation next week.

The jockey only returned to riding last month after spending months sidelined by injuries suffered in a multiple-horse fall at Taree in May.
