Sale quaddie tips, form & specials for Thursday, August 17

quaddie of the week
WE are back in country Victoria after last week’s Thursday quaddie at Kembla Grange and we are reeling after one of the worst beats you will ever see.

We landed three of the four legs and had a second placing in the defeated leg, which went down by less than half a head.

As brutal as that was, we must move on and Sale presents the perfect opportunity to bounce back in style.

Race five on the card is the Ladbrokes benchmark 70 over the 1423m distance which kicks off the quaddie at 3pm.

Race 5 – Ladbrokes BM70 (1432m)

Topweight Ballet Master is looking to make it three wins from four races on Thursday. The last-start win at the same track was sparkling across the same distance and grade. Looms as a big chance.

Scotopia is an interesting runner that needs a change of luck. Despite placing in two of its last three races the horse has had no fortune in the running, especially in the last run where it got well back. The five-year-old resumes after a 31-day break and has previously placed in the past first up.

Five-year-old mare Elegant Queen has won quaddie legs for us in the past and we are backing it to have a crack for us again on Thursday. At the Sale track the galloper has won three times and placed a further two times over eight runs, winning exactly half of its six runs over course and distance.

Race 6 – Jack’s Country Bakehouse Handicap C1 (1212m)

Steel Of Iron is a lightly raced runner that has made a big impact in its three career runs. Prior to its fifth-placed effort in Geelong, where it only finished two lengths back of the winner, the six-year-old won its maiden and finished within a head on its class two debut. The horse should be right in mix.

Blood Moon was a brilliant winner at Wodonga almost a month ago and is subsequently having its second-ever race start at Sale following the short let up. The four-year-old had the race in Wodonga won a long way out and if it can replicate that run there is no reason to believe it cannot handle the jump in class.

Cherief’s Choice is second up after its breakthrough win at Pakenham a week ago and the win as a short-priced favourite suggests it can progress through the grades quickly. The horse has excelled across its short career to date over the sprint trip and we think it will present a challenge to this field on Thursday.

Race 7 – Sale Water Specialists BM64 (1112m)

Parwan Prince looks set for a big run after four of its last five yielded two placings and two wins. The horse gets back to its pet distance where it has won twice across four starts. Looks to be the best chance in the the field.

Lightly raced four-year-old Natch returns to the track after a 10-month layoff and will look to continue its brilliant early career form. The horse has never finished outside the first four, and following that debut fourth it has never finished out of the quinella placings. The Maher-prepared gelding will be cherry ripe for this one.

Toorak Miss resumes on Thursday and the horse has a flawless one-from-one record first up. The mare looks like it could be a progressive type, and that means it will be more than competitive among this field.

Race 8 – Oneills Restaurant BM64 (1740m)

One of the veterans of the field is Liming, which has more than enough ability at its peak to take this one out. The horse has placed in exactly half of its eight attempts at track and distance and will be a major factor on Thursday.

Electrolyte has been racing in terrific form recently and will be hard to hold out if the form holds up. Last start after sitting out a month the four-year-old came perilously close to winning, finishing within a head of the winner. Before that it had finished first and second across its last three runs.

Meowie Wowie comes to Sale following a brilliant win at Echuca three-weeks ago. The horse is third up following that victory where it has won previously in the past. It all is falling into place for the mare.
